Balance track levels
Retrieve balance-mix through get_producer_workflow in the all profile, or open its MCP prompt. Describe the parts and desired balance. The default collaborative mode proposes a direction unless already chosen; autonomous chooses small, stated changes within the brief. Playback, recording, isolation and saving need their own authority.
The workflow covers explicitly chosen track, Group, Return and Main faders and track-to-Return sends. Return and Main changes need their own scope; do not include them in a request that names only ordinary tracks. Adding effects, changing Return processing or routing, and changing send pre/post settings require their own scope.
Work in native dB
get_track_mixer reports ordinary/Group volume; get_set_mixer reports Return/Main volume. Each volume record includes the fader's raw value, displayValue, finite decibels, enablement and automation state. A silent or unavailable dB value is null. Raw fader values are not a linear amplitude or dB scale. A finite relative request such as “lower the bass by 2 dB” needs its actual current dB value before calculating an absolute target. A silent fader needs an absolute target.
Plan set_track_volume_db with exact trackId, finite absolute volumeDb, and fresh expectedStateVersion. Review and execute with its confirmation token and plan hash. The updated bridge searches Live's native formatter without moving the fader, then rechecks document, native track/fader identity, current value, enablement, automation and recording before writing. Targets outside the native range or not representable within 0.05 dB are refused without clamping. Use an observed track-N for an ordinary/Group fader, return-N for a Return or master for Main. A Group affects its routed descendants, a Return affects all audio routed through it, and Main affects the entire mix routed through Main. These stages carry plan warnings. The tool changes the volume fader only; it does not change cue volume, crossfader or hardware output routing.
Known automated/overridden, disabled, frozen or unresolved faders and active recording/count-in are refused. Plans bind native owner, mixer and fader identities, including on Returns and Main; replacing any of them invalidates the plan. Do not remove automation or stop recording to bypass that boundary. Inactive automation state is not proof that no stored envelopes exist. Unsupported native dB displays remain unavailable rather than using an assumed conversion formula.
Balance effect sends
get_track_mixer also reports each send's native displayValue, finite decibels, silent, enablement and automation state. Resolve its exact id and returnTrackId and confirm the Return name. Duplicate names do not establish a destination. A Group send feeds the Group's routed material; do not unintentionally adjust both a Group and its children.
Plan set_track_send_db with trackId, sendId, matching returnTrackId, absolute sendDb and fresh expectedStateVersion. For “raise the reverb send by 2 dB,” calculate the absolute target from that send's observed finite dB value. A silent or unavailable baseline cannot support a finite relative calculation. Use sendDb: "-inf" only for an explicitly intended silent minimum; Live must verify that minimum as silent. No other string targets are accepted.
The plan binds native document, track, send-parameter and Return identity, current level, enablement, automation and recording. Disabled, frozen, automated/overridden or unresolved sends and active recording are refused. Finite levels must be representable within 0.05 dB without clamping. Inspect and confirm the unchanged plan, require observed.verified, and independently read the selected send again. A changed send uses one undo step; failed readback attempts to restore only its previous raw value and reports rollback failures.
Neighboring sends, faders, effects and routing are preserved. Return processing and send pre/post settings are outside the verification context. A gain-setting readback does not establish an audible wet/dry balance. Reversion needs fresh native identity, value and automation comparisons against the last applied observation. Restore an observed silent baseline through the same guarded tool with sendDb: "-inf". Restoring a displayed finite dB level need not recover the exact original raw value or automation; do not use global undo or an unguarded raw write to bypass a conflict.
Verify and refine
Require observed.verified and independently read the affected mixer again through get_track_mixer or get_set_mixer. A changed fader uses one native undo step; failure attempts to restore that fader's original value only while the same native owner, mixer and fader remain writable. If ownership, automation or recording changes, restoration is refused and the partial result is reported through the error. Rollback errors remain explicit. Several tracks remain separate operations and can partially succeed. After a lost reply, inspect current levels before continuing. Preserve notes, devices, pan, routing, sends, mutes, solos and manual edits. Reverting requires the actual baseline and a fresh comparison of native identity, values and automation against the last applied observations.
Use Arrangement audition or Session scene playback only when authorized. Keep an existing loop running when only its balance changes. Fader readback is a gain-setting check, not signal loudness or evidence of musical improvement. For separately authorized measurements, follow Live audio capture, compare equivalent passages and retain file-provenance checks. Ask what the user hears before choosing the next refinement.
